On World Environment Day, 5th June 2018, Usha Team along with many artisans and their families planted trees in the neighbourhood. Usha also gifted each artisan family a plant and made sure they plant it in their neighbourhoods. We explained to the artisans about the everyday changing environment and that the hour of need is now. Usha Team also donated old clothes to an NGO called Goonj, who make sanitary pads out of old clothes and sell them for very cheap prices to the underpriveledged.
On 12th May, The World Fair Trade Day, we gave a small presentation explaining fair trade to our artisans and their families. We hosted a lunch for our workers, artisans and their families.
We partnered with some doctors and conducted an overall health check-up for all our workers, artisans and their families. We’re proud to share that all our workers, including the office staff, artisans and their families are fit and healthy.
Every once in a while, Usha hosts children education workshops for our artisan’s children to ensure that they are being educated properly. Action is taking if the case is otherwise.
Usha hosted a cleanliness drive in the nearby slum area. We now and then our team at Usha goes to this nearby slum for cleanliness drives. This way the people living in the slum stay motivated to keep their surroundings clean.
We hosted a small march to fill the pits on the streets in the neighbourhood. Often we end up with large pits on the main streets and roads. Our team at Usha ensures time and again that these streets are filled if no action is taken by the government authorities for a long time.
